I have supported 100’s of individuals and couples to work through difficult and often heartbreaking times, I hope I can also help you.
Integrative counselling posits that there are many ways to explore and understand psychology and behaviour, there is no one approach that can have all of the answers.
Below are some of the theories that use in my practice:
- CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) techniques
I have helped many couples and individuals in over 30 years of working as a Psychotherapist with Relate, NHS and in private practice. I work in a specialised field and this has enabled me to have in depth knowledge and experience in the area of families, relationships and sexual relationships. Sex therapy and Sex and Porn Addiction are areas where I have specialist expertise. I work with both addicts and their partners, individually and in couple recovery.
Being in a relationship is one of the most fulfilling and healthy parts of life, but when a relationship experiences difficulties, life can feel very stressful, provoke anxiety and depression. The fact that you are reading this probably means that you care about your relationship and want to address and work through the problems that you are having –which is great. Or it may be that a relationship has ended and you are wanting to understand why, to rebuild your confidence and self esteem so that you can go forward.
If you have a sexual problem –whether it is a specific sexual disorder or a lack of interest in sex, I can help you through tried and tested Sex Therapy Programmes. I can work in conjunction with your medical professional to resolve the issue.
Sex addiction, porn addiction and sexual compulsivity are increasingly common presenting problems and, not only have I got extensive experience of working with these problems, I have developed and deliver the UK’s first Accredited Diploma Course to equip other therapists to work with this problem. I work with the individual on their addiction and with their partners to help them with their sense of betrayal and trauma.
My approach is an integration of psychodynamic, systemic and CBT. I also work using EMDR in conjunction with my CBT and Integrative therapy to work through past and current trauma.
